Political Background and Experience:
1971 – Participated as a Freedom Fighter in the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
I took Part in The war of Independence by receiving the highest military training from India in 1971 for the War of Independence of Bangladesh. After the training I joined sector – 9 as a freedom fighter under the command of sector commander Late Major. M.A. Jalil. It is to be mentioned that, my two cousins were brutally killed by the Pakistani Army in Khulna, in the month of April, 1971, during the Liberation War of Bangladesh.

1975-1976 – Central Leader of Jashad Chatra League,

1977-1979 – Vice-Chairman, Bangladesh Mukhtijoddha Sangsad Command Council.
In-Charge of Dhaka City Muktijoddha Command Council and Tejgaon Industrial Area. Dealt with the labour affairs also in some other important places in Dhaka City.

1979-1981 – Advisor to the President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh (Late Major General Ziaur Rahman) as the Labor Affairs.

2013 – Visited Sri Lanka as a member of the Bangladesh Parliament Delegation to the South Asian Parliament Organization Conference lead by the then Speaker of the parliament Advocate Abdul Hamid. Our visit was very successful and smooth, related to all the agenda of the conference and the interest of Bangladesh.

Attributes:

2018 – I accompanied former President General H.M. Ershad in response to the invitation of official visit to India. We had meetings with Indian External and Homeministers Shushama Swaraj and its Indian national security adviser Ajit Doval. Sushma Swaraj said “JaPa playing a role in the government despite being the opposition was a rare example. She appreciated JaPa as it came out from the traditional concept that the opposition cannot play a role in the government”. Overall we had an understanding of the mutual interest and agreed to help our countries on the common goals.

2016 – We had been to Washington and New York on the invitation of the Government and had meetings with the high officials and provided the honor and protocol accordingly.
My wife Nasreen Jahan Ratna, MP, accompanied me and five other members were also part of the delegation team. We attended some important meetings and altogether it was a successful trip to the USA.
2015 – I participated and accompanied opposition leader of the parliament Begum Rowshan Ershad during the meeting with the Indian Prime minister Narendra Modi and have successful discussion related to the bilateral issues of Bangladesh and India.

2012 I Accompanied former President General H.M. Ershad during a visit to India from August 13-18, 2012 and met President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, National Security Adviser Shivshankar Menon and Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai. During the meeting a successful discussion was held related to the bilateral issues.

2011 – At the invitation of the Government of India, a high power delegation Lead by
the former water resources Minister Abdur Razzak on the agenda of the Tipaimukh Dam physically to be inspected and to see the mutual interest of Bangladesh and India as the Tipaimukh dam is highly sensitive. We had a special meeting with the Counter part of India in the South Block of Indian Government. And we discussed thoroughly, how to maintain mutual interest of both the countries. The meeting was so fruitful that India realized how to save the interest of both the countries and protect our interest. However next day through helicopter we went to Tipaimukh Dam but the weather was so bad that we could not land and we came back in Guhati, the capital of Asam province next day. Finally, we could arrange to fly again and inspected the Tipaimukh dam area.

2004 – I accompanied former President General H.M. Ershad to the State Funeral of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan of UAE on 3rd November, 2004. We were received with the full respect by his son and current President of UAE Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

2004 – On an official invitation from the Government of the People’s Republic of China, under the able leadership of the Former President General H.M. Ershad, we visited the capital of China, Beijing and some other important cities like Shanghai, Shenzhen and Longjing. We were given the Presidential Protocol and the highest honor by the Chinese Government. We had a very successful meeting where we discussed about the mutual interests of both the countries, Bangladesh and China that formed the path of the future endeavor of the two countries. We have also mentioned that we believe in One China Policy.

1979 – Attended Commonwealth Conference, Lusaka, Zambia which was headed by the Late Former President of People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Major. General Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam. Attended New York disarmament session as the member of delegation which was headed by the Former Foreign Minister & Speaker Late, Humayun Rashid Chowdhury.

1989 – Attended WHO conference in Geneva, Switzerland as the team leader of the delegation team from Bangladesh.

***I have also played a vital role as a prominent leader in the political landscape of Bangladesh for more than 45 years.

Social Work and Achievements:

During my long political career, I have given tremendous and restless efforts towards the development works of my own constituency. I have also done a lot of works in the South Bengal and provided jobs to the jobless people in various sectors during my long term political career. As part of my social activities, I have built many roads, bridges and culverts, school & colleges, many madrasas, masques & orphanage, youth training centers and have done humanitarian works. I have done all these things through Government and sincere personal effort. During the natural calamities of the most vulnerable part of my constituency (South Bengal and Coastal area), I helped countless people though organizing fund, giveaway of food, water medicine and shelters, Clothings and baby foods, blankets, looked after infants and children welfare etc whenever it was needed. With the pragmatic political career, immense credibility and popularity, I have been chosen by the people of this soil and elected him as the Member of Parliament again and again (5 times).
